Jul 2 (Thu) Grand Tetons - Jenny Lake drive

The big plan was to get out really early today in order to maximize our chances of seeing Moose around Jenny Lake.  Getting six people up (Mom wanted to stay in), dressed, fed and into the car is not a fast proposition.  We didn’t get out until around 9:00.  As usual the views of the mountains were great

and there were lots of wild flowers.

We stopped for views of Jenny Lake with the mountains beyond and then decided to hike back to the Visitor’s Center.  Paul missed the hike because someone needed to move the car down to the center.  No moose were seen but the hike and the views were fun.

Chloe and Liam climbed every small, medium and large size rock they could find.

After a picnic lunch Chloe and Liam donned swimsuits and we headed back to the lake where they had a grand time wading and splashing in the lake.

The drive back allowed us another great view of the Tetons and the valley.

On the way back to the hotel we saw a very tall pole standing near the road.  On top was a very large bird’s nest with a couple of good size birds in it.  Our guess is that they are osprey (no birder’s around to confirm).
