Today we slept in and generally played lazy. We did drive into Jackson for a bit of
sightseeing mid-day. On the way in we saw some hot air balloons. Wish there had been time to take a ride in one.
We stopped at a couple of small but nice museums. One focused on local animals and the Native Americans in the area and the other had a treasure trove of items used by the settlers how moved into the area. Each museum had a treasure hunting sheet for the kids. The object was look at the items on the sheet and try to find it somewhere in the museum. Some were very tricky such as an item that looked a little like a small top but was in reality a very large item we think was used on wagons...maybe to hold the axle. Who knows?
We also hit a local favorite pizza place (at least the
guide book said it was a favorite). The
pizza was very good. We stopped by the town park for a look at the massive arches made of elk (and maybe deer) antlers that had been shed. Good place for a family photo.
Late afternoon my cousins Jan Hobart and sister Deb
Johnson and her husband Paul came over for dinner. They saw moose on the way over. There is no justice in the world. We didn't see any during our vacation.
It was great to get together as we hadn’t
seen each other in a very long time.
